NCJI’s board of trustees is conducting a search to fill the Institute’s Academic Program Consultant position effective June 3, 2024. The position is part-time with a renewable annual contract.
Seeking a creative, thoughtful professional with a strong understanding of complex issues relating to plaintiffs’ civil trial law. Consultant will provide direct programmatic support to the Institute in developing annual judicial forums, academic symposia, and other programs. Duties include monitoring and researching trends in civil procedure/practice of civil law, particularly topics of concern for state court judges; identifying and developing potential program topics; recruiting and working with program faculty (legal academics, judges); editing academic papers; attending NCJI programs and meetings; working closely with Washington, D.C. staff. Requirements include: JD degree, excellent written and oral communication skills, experience advocating for plaintiffs/victims through civil litigation or academic/nonprofit work. Infrequent travel required. Approximately 40 hours/month, flexible but regular hours, firm deadlines. The position is remote with some in-person commitments. Pay is $48,000-$52,000 per year.
