We are delighted to announce the publication of the report of our July 2020 Forum for State Appellate Court Judges, held virtually for the first time ever: Dangerous Secrets: Confronting Confidentiality in Our Public Courts. This 145-page report contains the academic papers prepared for the Forum (Foundational and Contemporary Court Confidentiality by Professor Dustin Benham of Texas Tech University School of Law; and Confidentiality in the Courts: Privacy Protection or Prior Restraint? by Sergio Campos of University of Miami School of Law), commentary by legal experts, and frank discussion and points of convergence among the 70 judges from 25 states who attended the Forum and participated in small discussion groups. Also included is special talk by Reuters correspondent Dan LevineA Full Accounting: How Transparency in the Courthouse Can Help the Country Heal. Reuters’s groundbreaking series on secrecy in litigation gained national attention.
